The inability to waste during this period raised the blanket levels which caused the decanters to pick up solids that collected in the chlorine contact chamber and increased chlorine demand. The following corrective actions have been performed to remedy these non-compliance events: 1. Waste sludge pumps were repaired on August 3, 2021 2. Procedure implemented to drain and clean the chlorine contact chamber weekly 3. Consulted with the SBR manufacturer, Aqua Aerobics, on recommended settings for the cycling times for the process. Training for all W WTF operations staff was completed on September 29- 30, 2021. 4. Contracted with Aqua. Aerobics for annual inspection and repair of key process elements (SBR decanter, surface mixers and aerators, and actuators). 5. Working with Inframark technical: support staff to identify process control parameters for better activated sludge treatment, reporting, sampling, testing, and capital improvement_ needs. This _ communication occurred with the .staff in August 2021.. Most of the recommended items were already being implemented. The frequency violation for the missed influent composite sample during the week of May 15th occurred because tubing on the influent side of the autosampler suction pump had clogged, preventing the autosampler from drawing enough influent for a composite sample. The W WTF operator has taken steps to prevent the suction pump from clogging. The Town of Yanceyville, in'partnership with Inframark, the firm contracted by the Town to operate and maintain the wastewater treatment facility, acknowledges, and does not dispute the violations, however, we request that NCDEQ'recognize the mitigating factors and underlying root causes that are not under the control of the Town. Infiamark continues to work diligently to troubleshoot the treatment process and improve the response and recovery time of activated sludge treatment.
