The Division of Water Resources considers decks to be impervious so I need to know the total square feet of impact in Zone 2 for the deck. Sounds like it’s 144 sf so if you can just
confirm, that would be great.

Cherri, the entirety of the proposed deck addition will be within the zone 2 of the riparian buffer. Will the impact s.f. need to account for 144 s.f. or 0 s.f.? decks in the town of
cary don’t count towards impervious is why I am asking.

Second, I couldn’t tell from the survey where Zone 2 (the outer 20 feet of the riparian buffer) is located. I see the top of bank and what looks like a line defining a riparian buffer,
but I didn’t see the two zones depicted or any labelling. Third, the application states that 3 square feet of riparian buffer are being impacted. That seems like a particularly small
impact, and that’s fine, but I couldn’t tell from the survey if that’s really the case. It’s really important to have the impacts accurately depicted so you’ll be able to get your
building permit.
