Dear Mr. Vinson:
Aqua North Carolina, Inc. (Aqua) offers the following response to the above -referenced Notice of Violation
and Intent to Assess Civil Penalty, which was issued for Solids, Total Suspended Concentration, daily
maximum exceeded found in February 2023 Discharge Monitoring Report.
Aqua's Response:
Additional grease influx was experienced at the WWTP during the time of sampling. This affected our
settling in the clarifier and caused elevated TSS results. The origin of the grease was investigated but the
source was not identified. Additional efforts to mitigate the grease influx in the W WTP basins were
conducted and the W WTP seemed to respond well. This collection system was just cleaned in 2022 and is
scheduled for additional collection system cleaning in 2023.
