Stephen,
The Division's General Water Quality Certification for utility line projects is located at the following link.
Please see the following link to our Basin Planning Branch vvebsite. On the left-hand side of the vvebpage are links to
Find Your HUC and Find a Surface Water Classification.
For areas subject to the Jordan Lake Riparian Buffer Rule including GIS layers, please see the link below.
The memo at the following link explains the lateral boundaries of existing transportation facilities within which the
buffer protection rules do not apply due to an exemption for existing uses that are present and ongoing.
You can find a copy of the pre-construction form and help document that are used to apply for a Nationwide Permit
from the USACE and a 401 Water Quality Certification and buffer authorization from the Division of Water Resources at
the following link.
The attached help document is for requesting a buffer authorization when there would not be any impacts to the stream
channel orwetlands. It contains more detailed information on where to find USGS topographical and soil survey maps
for buffer rule applicability. Also attached isaform used to request stream determinations for buffer rule applicability
when maps depicting the presence ofa stream channel are inaccurate.
You may also contact David Lee at919-791-42O4or for assistance with permitting throughout the
Department of Environmental and Natural Resources, which includes the Division of Water Resources and the Division
of Energy, Minerals, and Land Resources (DEMLK). You may recall from our meeting that DEMLK is the Division that is
responsible for construction stormvvater permitting and sediment and erosion control technical assistance.
As you mentioned, NC OneMap provides access to NC's geospatial data resources.
Thanks,
z

i Jennifer/Rob and James—I wanted to thank you for setting up the meeting last week to discern whether DENR and
ACOE would be involved in our build. At this time,we're continuing to review the data we've received to date.
You stated that you were going to send us some web links that would be more direct than those that we might find on
our own queries for National Wetlands Inventory(NWI) GIS Layer(which is not current), the NCONE Map's topo GIS
layer(which will only specify low-points) and the FEMA 100 yr GIS layer.
Thank you.
