03/24/2023 Compliance Inspection
Inspection Report Items 1 — 3
Dear Ms. Morelia Sanchez -King,
On behalf of Carolina Water Service, Inc. of NC (CWSNC), please accept this
letter in response to the Belvedere Plantation Compliance Inspection Report, items
1-3.
The groundwater lowering system discharging to the wetland feature was
observed during the inspection by Geoff Kegley. Some of the flow from the
groundwater lowering system seeps back toward infiltration basin A.
CWSNC further investigated the issue and discovered mature trees were
growing in front of the effluent discharge pipe. Those trees have been
removed and flow is now being distributed towards the wetlands.
2. Corrosion/rust was observed on the inside of EQ basin and should be
repaired, per Geoff Kegley. CWSNC has contacted a professional company
that specializes in metal rehabilitation work to assess the corrosion/rust on
the inside of the EQ basin. Necessary repairs will be made, which may
include sand blasting, priming, and painting, of the area where corrosion/rust
was observed.

Monitoring wells MW — 7 through MW —10 should be permanently
abandoned, per permit schedule I.1. CWSNC has contacted Applied
Resource Management, a certified well drilling contractor in the State of
North Carolina. Applied Resource Management conducted a site visit of the
monitoring wells on 04/11/2023 and provided a proposal to permanently
abandon monitoring wells MW — 7 through MW —10. The proposal has
been accepted by CWSNC. We are anticipating Applied Resource
Management will have the abandonment of MW — 7 through MW —10
completed within the next 30 days.
We will continue to keep NCDEQ updated on the status of inspection report items 1
— 3. If you need additional information, please feel free to contact me at 312-965-
3728, or by email at anthonv.futrell@carolinawaterservicenc.com
