In response to Hamby Creek Permit#NC 0024112 NOV for January 2023 dated March 29, 2023.
On January 4, 2023 persistent moderate to heavy rain on saturated ground caused influent
flows to temporarily exceed treatment capacity at the Hamby Creek WWTP resulting in a wash
out of suspended solids which resulted in the permit violations for January 2023. This isolated
event was a direct result of a weather event and neither equipment failure or operator error
were a contributory cause. Minimal long-term environmental impact occurred and the WSRO
was notified via email at the time the event occurred and an influent flow chart was attached to
that email. Please take this in to consideration when evaluating this event.
