Residential lot with home with an eroding bank along the Tar River.

4. Proposed Activity
Provide a detailed description of the proposed activity including its purpose and include the type of equipment to be used:
Install bulkhead along shoreline to prevent further erosion, this will be a vinyl sheet pile bulkhead, approximately 5' tall and no more
than 2' away from landward edge of shore.
Clear necessary vegetation to install tiebacks and anchors.
Backfill wall with suitable soil to a positive slope not to retain water behind the wall.
Minor disassembly and reassembly of wood bridge.
Install a subsurface rock drain system behind the seawall. This will consist of a 2' x 2' area filled with drainage rock and a 4"
corrugated drain line to be wrapped with filter cloth. There will be 2" wall drains penetrating the wall every 15'
This will be constructed using an excavator on land.

D. Impact Justification and Mitigation
1. Avoidance and Minimization
1a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project.
Install the wall only to the minimal necessary height to protect shoreline but minimalize the amount of fill behind the wall.
1b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques.
Once the sheet pile wall is installed this will serve as a barrier to prevent dirt fill from entering the adjacent waters.
