Dear Mr. Wilson:
The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) received your 401 Water Quality Certification application for the
subject project on September 17, 2007. Mr. Alan Johnson of the Mooresville Regional Office has reviewed
your application and visited the site on October 2, 2007, based on his review and site visit, the following
information is needed by this office in order to issue the 401 Certification:
It appears impacts have occurred within the Catawba buffer, which measures 50 ft. landward from the
lake project elevation. It is requested that the buffer be properly marked and both Zone 1 and Zone 2 of
the buffer be identified (staked).
Pursuant to 15A NCAC 2H .0507(h), please be advised that this project will be placed on hold until such
time as the requested information has been received. In addition, this office is requesting that the Army Corps
of Engineers withhold processing the 404 permit until the requested information is provided.
