Tom, Hannah, and Stephen,
I visited the sites along Y-32 LT where they had losses in the JS. They also had some erosion issues at a
ditch that we looked at today too.
Area A (~29+00 Y-32 LT): The special sediment control fence was overwhelmed and material got around
it. They plan to remove a little more material from the channel (by hand), remove the coir fiber matting,
fill in the ruts/reshape the bank with native material, and then seed and re-mat the area. They also need
to fix the special sediment control fence and make sure hardware cloth runs the whole length of the
rock.
Area B (~28+25 Y-32 LT): The silt fence was undermined in this area. They plan to remove the matting,
fill in the ruts/reshape the bank with native material, and then seed and re-mat the area. They have
finish retrieving the material from the channel at this location.
Area C (Ditch draining to outlet of 78” pipe): There were no losses at this location and it was not
included in Ben’s original email. The outlet of the ditch is at the outlet of the 78” pipe. The rock checks
within the ditch did their job, so the sediment settled out before entering the stream. Water washed
under the rock near the other pipe at the top of the ditch and caused washing on the slope. They
extended the fabric up the slope and were in the process of placing new rock today. They still have some
material to retrieve by hand between the last rock check and the rock on the bank of the stream.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I will send an update on the borrow pits and RPW affected
by the fire tomorrow. I’m still getting the pictures together for that report.
Thanks,

Sophia,
Thank you for the prompt notification/repair of losses and glad to hear the project
fared as well it did.

Tom, Hannah, and Stephen,
Ben reported losses at two locations in the Jurisdictional Stream along Y-32 LT at the Hampstead Bypass
after this weekend’s rain. Please see the forwarded email and pictures from him below. I will be visiting
the project tomorrow to look at the areas impacted by the fire I reported in a previous email and plan to
see these sites while I am there too. I will provide an update on this tomorrow after my visit, but it
sounds like these losses have already been cleaned up. Please let me know if you have any questions at
this time.
Thanks,

Sophia,
The project received ~2.4” of rain from the even over the weekend. Jim has completed his review of the
project. There was minimal losses at the Jurisdictional Stream along Y-32 LT(20+00 - 32+00 Y-32 LT): Two
areas were eroded and allowed a minimal amount of material to collect at bottom of channel front slope
with a very small quantity actually entering stream. It was very quickly repaired. There were no other
losses throughout the project. We are available to review with you. Let us know if you have any
questions.
Cheers,
Ben

Ben,
Our inspection this morning indicated only minor issues in several areas where problems had occurred
on previous rainfall events.
Jurisdictional Stream along Y-32 LT(20+00 - 32+00 Y-32 LT): Two areas were eroded and allowed a
minimal amount of material to collect at bottom of channel front slope with a very small quantity
actually entering stream. This material was cleaned up while I was at these locations and repairs here
are completed. Areas where embankment slopes had been started fared better than those areas where
there were no slopes yet established. (See Photos Below)
Overall, project held up well to +/- 2.4” rain. Minor repairs are being done where needed at various
areas throughout project.
Cheers,
Jim
