Dear Mr. Ward:
This correspondence is in response to your email, dated today, referencing a request for
renewal of your Department of the Army permit (DA) issued on February 8, 2011, authorizing
the replacement of the existing 23' x 27' platform located at the seaward end of the existing pier
with a new 10' x 70' floating fuel dock, conversion of the existing 15' x 27' fixed platform and
covered boat lift to a 21' x 27' unenclosed fuel attendant platform, replacement of a portion of
the existing bulkhead with a new 250' bulkhead adjacent to the area of the existing bulkhead,
and development of a marina clubhouse with an associated parking area. The project site is
located at 1512 Burnett Road, adjacent to the AIWW, and Myrtle Grove Sound, immediately
south of Carolina Beach Inlet, in New Hanover County, North Carolina.
Your proposal has been reviewed and found to be consistent with the provisions and
objectives of the CAMA -Corps Programmatic Permit process (copy attached) for major
development in an area of Environmental Concern and excavation and/or filling that receive
authorization from the State of North Carolina pursuant to NCGS 113A -118 and 113 -229.
Therefore, you may commence construction activity in strict accordance with applicable State
authorization, or the approved plan. Failure to comply with the State authorization or conditions
of the Federal permit could result in civil and/or administrative penalties.
If any change in your work is required because of unforeseen or altered conditions or for
any other reason, plans revised to show the change must be sent promptly to this office and the
North Carolina Division of Coastal Management prior to performing any such change or
alteration. Such action is necessary as revised plans must be reviewed and the authorization
modified. Your Department of the Army permit will expire on December 31, 2016.
