The North Carolina Dep artment of Transportationhas started the project
development, environmental, and engineering studies for the rep lacement of
Bridge#52 over Deep River Tributary on Scientific Street (SR 1332) in
Jamestown, Guilford County, NC. The Project Number is 17BP.7.R.114.
The US Army Corps ofEngineers (USAGE) is the lead federal agency for
compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and
Section 10. of the National Historic Preservation Act (NIjpA) and a Permit
is anticip ated underthe Section 404 Process with theUSACE. A project
vicinity map is attached. The coordinates ofthis project are approximately
35.97751,-79.95282.
We would appreciate any information you might have that would be helpful
in evaluating p otential environmental imp acts of the project including
recommendation of alternates to be studied. Your comments may beused in
the preparation ofaNEPA/ State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA)
Environmental Document.
In accordance with S ection 106 of the NHPA, we also request that you
inform us of any historic properties of traditional religious or cultural
imp ortance that you are aware of that may be affected by the proposed
project. Be assured that, in accordance with confidentiality and disclosure
stipulations in Section 304 of theNHPA, we will maintain strict
confidentiality about certain types of information regardinghistoric
properties.
