OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT Raleigh, NC Recently representatives of the City of Reidsville met with representatives of your staff in the Winston-Salem Regional Office to discuss the City of Reidsville's desire to T a im r to its wastewater treatment plant which discharges into ittle roublesome Creek in Rockingham County. We were advised by a Mr. Larry Coble of that office that a request neeZlea to o­your-office—to have an instream analysis done of Little Troublesome Creek to evaluate its receiving capacity at our point of discharge. At the present time the City of Reidsville's wastewater treatment plant has a capacity of 5 million gallons per day. We are interested in enlarging our plant to a capacity of 7 1/2 million gallons per day. In order to do so our Engineers need some direction on what final _eff1m nt Limitation_ be placed on us if this capacity were achieved. As I'm sure you are aware, the City of Reidsville is also currently under a moratorium, primarily because of operational problems at the wastewater treatment plant. We are concurrently processing a Judicia r-der_. of Consent through the Winston-Salem Regional Office and, thereby, are committed to active and stringent actions to bring our plant into compliance at the current capacity. Knowing the receiving stream s capabilities through t is instream analysis will not only assist us in designing the enlargement of the plant but also in processing the Judicial Order of Consent and having the moratorium lifted. hp., .
