Dear Mr. Weaver,
Via this email I am requesting that the Permitting Section place the Barium Springs Sewer Plant on
INACTIVE STATUS due to the elimination of the effluent discharge with all wastewater currently being
connected to the municipal system of the Town of Troutman, NC.
In the fall of 2022, our discharge to the plant was eliminated when we transitioned to the Town of
Troutman's municipal sewer system. Since then, we have pumped all the tanks dry and cemented any
discharge drains from the plant so no effluent is going into or out of the plant. We are pursuing
decommissioning of the plant pending a sale of the land to Prestige Development which is now
scheduled to close in December of 2023. CHA understands that we will still be required to pay the
annual fee associated with the plant until the final decommissioning is approved by the state.
