Box 25201, Raleigh, NC 276] 1-5202 LYNDO T[PPETT GOVERNOR PHONE: 9] 9-733-2520 SECRETARY June 12, 2007 Mr. Monte Matthews U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Raleigh Regulatory Field Office 6508 Falls of Neuse Road, Suite 120 Raleigh, NC 27615 Subject: Supplemental Information for Modification to 404 Individual Permit No. 200520314 Modification to 401 Individual Permit No. OS-0061 TIP # R-3415 Widening of NC 67 from Jonesville to Booneville Yadkin County, North Carolina WBS: 34541.3.2 (DWQ Permit Fee: $475) Dear Mr. Matthews: ~ S o0 Cp ~ v. 3 Per your request we have updated our plan sheets to show the proposed modified right-of--way line needed to establish a permanent protected buffer for the four on-site stream relocations at Sites 1, 3 and 6. The proposed buffer widths range between thirty and fifty feet. If the proposed on-site mitigation is approved, we will acquire the revised right-of--way depicted in the plans, proof of which can be provided. We will then erect the woven wire restricted access fencing as proposed in the initial permit modification request. The fencing will follow the new right of way Iine to prevent mowing in the protected buffer. Please also note that the cross vane rock weir on the eastern side of the Site #1 relocation has been relocated on the plans to the western end to prevent a headcut from forming in the new channel. Also note that Detail #33 (riprap embankment) at Site #3 has been eliminated from the plans. This relocation has already been constructed. I have included before and after photos of this Site, which illustrates that the bank was not armored. I am forwarding this supplemental information to Sue Homewood, NCDENR, Division of Water Quality, for her review as well. If further information is required, or if you need clarification on any other issues, please advise. Your early review and consideration will be appreciated. P. O. Box 250, N.
