Division personnel received your request to modify the subject permit on April 17, 2001. After a
review of the history of the subject permit, the Division cannot grant your request. The reasons for
continuing instream sampling at your facility are:
➢ Instream monitoring is required for facilities such as yours at 15A NCAC 2B.0508.
➢ Positive results for fecal coliform still occur in downstream samples. While the fecal counts are
not excessive, their continued occurrence validates the need for continued monitoring.
➢ Conductivity monitoring was deleted in the last permit renewal, reducing the number of
parameters to be monitored instream.
