Subject: Request for a Nationwide Permit 14 and 401 Water Quality Certification for a
culvert installation on SR 1118 (Magnolia Road) in Tyrrell County. WBS # 1.208911
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting the issuance of a
Nationwide Permit 14 and corresponding 401 Water Quality Certification for a culvert
installation on SR 1118 (Magnolia Road) in Tyrrell County. An existing 15"X40' RCP is
located on SR 1118 approximately 1 mile south of SR 1122. This culvert has silted in,
and the flow of water is negligible. In order to restore and enhance the connectivity of
the jurisdictional waters, a new pipe will be installed in a new location on SR 1118. The
new 30"X40' CAP will be installed 2.5 feet below the roadway, approximately 430 ft.
north of the existing pipe. The project would impact approximately 24 sq. ft. of open
water. No jurisdictional wetland impacts are proposed.
