Mr. Gregory Spillman (system ORC) assisted with the inspection and was very helpful in assisting during the inspection. The system is permitted for the operation of a 300,000 GPD wastewater treatment facility with disposal via high -rate infiltration basins. Average flows are approximately 125,000 GPD. The facility consists of: • manual bar screen and fine screen • 80,000 gallon flow equalization tank • two 18,729 gallon anaerobic basins • two 26,272 gallon anoxic basins • two 83, 685 gallon aeration basins • two 18,928 gallon anoxic basins • two 3,094 gallon re -aeration basins • 38,089 gallon clarifier • 23,450 gallon clarifier • Traveling bridge tertiary filter • 3,293 gallon mudwell • 8,976 gallon chlorination tank • 60,000 gallon aerobic digester • flow meter; a turbidimeter • auxiliary generator located at the treatment facility • auxiliary generator located at the high -rate infiltration site • lined 1,502,986 gallon storage pond • high -rate infiltration system consisting of three 0. 27 acre high -rate infiltration basins • 568,218 GPD mechanical groundwater lowering system, discharging to adjacent wetland The facility appears to be well operated and maintained. To maintain compliance with the permit, please complete the following items: 1. The groundwater lowering system discharging to the wetland feature was observed during the inspection. Some of this flow seeps back toward infiltration basin A. Some minor earthwork is needed to direct this flow towards wetlands and away from infiltration basin. 2. Corrosion/rust was observed on the inside of the EQ basin and should be repaired. 3. Monitoring wells MW-7 through MW- 10 should be permanently abandoned, per permit schedule 1.1. This should be completed by a North Carolina Certified Well Contractor and a well abandonment record should be submitted. Please review the comment sections of the inspection report for more details.
