Department of Transportation (NCDOT) request dated March 3, 2023, including two attached drawings dated March 3, 2023, Sheet 1 of 2 and Sheet 2 of 2. The request is to modify CAMA Major Permit No. 81-19 to allow for the directional bore of three (3) 1.25” diameter HDPE conduits within one 6” diameter bore for Segra’s telecommunications line relocation associated with the U-4906 Gum Branch Road widening project. The active CAMA Permit for this project authorizes multiple utility relocations, however the need for this specific utility relocation was not identified in the permit application. The proposed total bore length would be 2,306 feet and located approximately between STA. 60+00 and STA. 80+00. The bore would be constructed approximately 10’ below the bottom of Half Moon Creek, with the bore pits located on high ground outside of the Public Trust Shoreline AEC. The proposed bore will not result in any additional impacts to wetlands or waters of the State. Please be advised that through this Letter of Authorization, the Division of Coastal Management conveys its determination that the revision as described in your request dated March 3, 2023 is consistent with existing State rules and regulations and is in keeping with the original purpose and intent of CAMA Permit No. 81-19. This letter shall be attached to the original of CAMA Major Permit No. 81-19, which was issued on October 14, 2019, as well as the Letter of Authorization dated October 12, 2021, and copies of all documents shall be readily available on-site when a Division of Coastal Management representative inspects the project for compliance. All conditions and stipulations of the active permit shall remain in force unless altered herein. This approval does not eliminate the need to obtain any additional permits, approvals or authorizations that may be required. Please contact Stephen Lane at (252) 515-5408 if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Gregg Bodnar Major Permits Coordinator cc: Hannah Sprinkle, NCDWR Tom Steffens, USACE
