7. Describe proposed work (include discussion as to how hardening of shoreline has been avoided, or
why it is necessary):
On shoreline, replace existing stone seawall with new VA fieldstone wall. In lower buffer area, replace existing stone retaining
wall at left of dock with VA Fieldstone wall and install steps to beach area. In upper buffer area, replace existing stone retaining
wall behind beach area with new VA Fieldstone wall, replace steps in upper area at start of walkway and replace stepping stones on
walkway to dock. All existing walls on shoreline and buffer are approx. 20 years old and are made of limestone. Area behind
seawall and buffer walls is starting to erode, causing sediment wash out from buffer and shoreline area into lake. All walls are
starting to fail and limestone is starting to crumble due to age and lake conditions. All work will be within the same footprint and
project is only to replace what already exists and is failing, to control and prevent more erosion from occurring.
