Subject:FW: High Meadows Maverick Trail - NCWRC comments
Hi Brian and Seren,
I have reviewed the information sent to me about High Meadows Maverick Trail project,
which proposes to permanently impact 159 ft and temporarily impact 40 ft of an unnamed
tributary to Muddy Creek for a residential development in Stokes County.
The project should not impact wild trout and a trout moratorium is not needed for this
project. The proposed culvert would be reinforced concrete pipe (RCP); we recommend
against using RCP or high density polyethylene (HDPE) material for culverts, as these
smooth materials are less likely to hold stream substrate and provide for movement of
aquatic organisms like fish and salamanders.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to review this project.
Andrea
