RE: Camp Watia Site Visit Summary (UNCLASSIFIED)
Clement,
Thanks for sending.
Two further items that I would like to discuss and address further include
Correcting the detail to include the depth of natural bed material placed on top of the rip rap protecting the sewer line
and the use of filter fabric used in the stream channel (As Andrea has outlined in her comment letter).
Further explanation of when impact #10 will be removed. You state that it is your understanding that it will be removed.
Do you have a time -line or construction sequence for when the pipe will be removed?
I have to run to the field this afternoon and will be in the field tomorrow morning. Let me know when a good time
would be to discuss further.
I will put the project on -hold until these remaining items are discussed. You can respond by email and I will not issue an
ADD Info letter.
Thanks,
Tim

David and Tim,
Attached is the revised Section C (Page 5) with the correct proposed
impacts in the table for locations 8a, 86, and 10. There is no change
to the proposed linear feet of impact 9, only the location has shifted upstream to avoid the trees. I hope this provides
you what you were needing. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you,
Clement

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Camp Watia Site Visit Summary
Tim and David,
The following is a summary of items that were discussed regarding the Camp Watia site visit on March 16, 2015. We
believe that this covers all of the issues discussed during this meeting. However, in the event that we have left
something out or you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
1. The Corps /DWR had requested a revised creek crossing typical showing rip -rap placed at least 6 -8" below the original
stream bed and covered with native gravel and sand from the stream. Also should not be added
above the ordinary high water.
Attached is a revised cross - section Detail showing that rip rap will only be added below the Ordinary High Water Mark
and banks will be re- sloped, matted and planted.
2. DWR /Corps reminded applicant that all culverts should be installed to meet the conditions of the permit (imbedded
in the stream). "
The culverts have been sized and designed by WGLA Engineering. Attached is new culvert installation detail for the
culverts installation to be imbedded.
3. DWR asked for explanation about the impact for culvert 5. Can the applicant use or remove the existing culvert
below this impact?
The applicant has prepared the site plan that reduces and minimizes stream impacts by making use of 3 existing culverts
Onsite. Despite their best efforts they are not able to use the existing culvert downstream of the proposed impact 5 and
maintain the project layout.
The parking lot is designed with two entrances /exits to improve traffic flow and safety. On the busiest days this is likely
to be one way
traffic. The existing culvert that is not being used is located at
such an angle that it would negatively affect the radius of curvature for traffic, which has a negative impact on traffic
flow and safety, especially for large buses. The existing culvert is also located in close proximity to the camp Welcome
Depot. The camp Welcome Depot is centrally located in the center of camp property and is setback off the
County Road in order to allow for traffic and safety as well. This
