We take very serious care and time while building. D. Impact Justification and Mitigation 1. Avoidance and Minimization la. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project. Very little impact will be needed in designing this project. We will stake out the foundation and then stay within this footprint. 1 b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques. We will set up a buffer zone: Establish a buffer zone between the stream and the construction area. This zone can be left untouched, or low -impact activities like planting native vegetation can be conducted within it to help stabilize the stream banks and filter runoff. Limit heavy machinery: Limit the use of heavy machinery in the buffer zone and near the stream to avoid erosion, sedimentation, and damage to vegetation. For example, rubber -tracked excavators or other low -impact machinery can be used instead of bulldozers. Use erosion control measures: Use erosion control measures to minimize the amount of sediment that enters the stream. These measures can include silt fences, straw bales, or erosion control blankets that help stabilize the soil and prevent erosion. Use low -impact construction techniques: Use low -impact construction techniques that minimize the amount of disturbance to the soil and vegetation. For example, using geotextiles or other permeable materials can help minimize soil disturbance and prevent erosion The natural contours of the lot drain directly into the Raleigh Storm water system..
