SUBJECT: Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) Permit Application Submittal for The
Town of Morehead City — Sugarloaf Island Protection and Habitat Restoration, in
Carteret County
Dear Sir:
This letter is in response to the above referenced CAMA permit application, which was accepted
as complete by the Division's Wilmington office on October 4, 2022. Processing of the
application is ongoing. However, it has been determined that additional information will be
required prior to the Division taking final action on your application. The required item is
summarized below:
Based on correspondence submitted by The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries
(DMF) dated February 7, 2023, the DMF has requested additional information
concerning a submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) monitoring plan, and criteria for
success.
Therefore, it is necessary that processing of your permit application be placed in abeyance until
such time as the required information is provided to the DMF and a copy supplied to this office.
At this time the Division is also awaiting comments from additional agencies which may aid in
shaping the final project proposal.
