Inspection Summary:
Facility functions jointly as a heavy equipment maintenance shop for both the City of Raleigh and Raleigh Fire Department.
The building is divided between both.
A SWPPP for the site has already been drafted. One stormwater sample has already been collected. Quarterly inspections
are performed by facility personnel.
On the Raleigh Heavy Equipment side, there is a catch basin in the shop area where used oil is dumped during vehicle
maintenance. The catch basin is connected to a used oil tank.
Both sections of the facility have drains at the doors to the maintenance bays, all stormwater that drains in this area is
treated in an oil water separator.
A wash bay is present at the southern end of the site. Water from the wash bay also drains to the oil water separator.
Vehicle fueling takes place onsite. The fuel pumps are located under a cover and spill kits are available adjacent to the
pumps.
Scrap metal dumpsters are stored under car ports in the back parking lot. A used anti -freeze container is also located in the
back parking lot and in secondary containment. A used oil filter container is also stored in this area with the lid closed. Used
batteries are stored under cover of the car port.
No salt or brine operations take place on the property.
All chemicals and used products are stored under cover or in proper secondary containment.
Spill containment materials are located throughout the inside of the facility.
Facility is kept relatively neatly inside the maintenance areas.
Several outdoor areas are used for vehicle storage/parking.
