Shifting to a statewide E. coli standard requires additional monitoring across the state. This monitoring is to be conducted in Class B waters by NCDEQ as well as by NPDES dischargers to Class B waters that are potentially affected by the proposed standard. The Tuckertown Powerhouse, permitted under NPDES Permit NC0081949, has been selected to take part in the additional sampling effort necessary for development of the proposed E. coli standard. Please see the attached letter, which has also been mailed out physically today, March 8, 2023, for additional information regarding the required sampling. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact either me or Elizabeth Kountis (e-mail: elizabeth.kountis@ncdenr.gov, phone: 919-707-3685).
