The Commission requires comments from certain agencies including the Division of Water Resources on the planned project. List all work needed to support the proposal within the Project Boundary (e.g. excavation for pipe lines, storm water outlets, shoreline stabilization, etc.): Utilities will be relocated Prior to Installing the Box Culvect: Describe the overall project in detail, including the type of equipment to be used: This portion of the project consists of relocating and installing a 12-inch water line downstream of the proposed 12-foot by 9-foot Reinforced Concrete Box Culvert (RCBC) and relocating and installing an 8-inch force main sewer line upstream of the proposed RCBC. Both lines with be installed across Richland Creek using open-cut trenching techniques. When the lines are installed and the temporarily side cast earthen material is replaced, both lines will be approximately 4 feet below the streambed. Standard equipment for installing underground utility lines and perfarming open-cut trenching will be employed. Box Culvert & Approaches: The bridge will be replaced with a 55.5 foot long double 12-foot by 9-foot reinforced concrete box culvert (RCBC) on the existing alignment. The proposed culvert is 26 feet wide. The cross section of the roadway will be widened to support the appropriate standards for this roadway. It will include a 24-foot pavement width providing trvo 12 foot lanes. Six foot shoulders (four-feet paved, two-feet turfl will be provided on each side. Shoulders will be nine feet wide where guardrail is included. Traffic will be detoured offsite during construction. Standard road building equipment such as trucks, dozers, excavators and cranes will be used. The bridge has reached the end of its useful life. NCDOT plans to replace the bridge with a culvert with only the minimal improvements need to tie back into the existing approaches. NCDOT currently has an easement along this road measuring 60 feet wide.
