Re: Tar -Pam Major Variance Request
Comments: I called the Beaufort County Planning Department and spoke to Brent Burbage about whether the
county requires a buffer authorization or variance before issuing building permits for projects that
impact the riparian buffer. Mr. Burbage said the County does require written approval from the State
for riparian buffer impacts that are not exempt. He explained that the Darar's did not obtain a
building permit prior to beginning work on the addition and deck on their property at 734 Old Pamlico
Beach Road in Belhaven.
