CreekStone personnel completed construction oversight of the corrective action plan prepared by others which was approved by the USACE and NCDEQ on June 16, 2020. Stream monitoring began on June 15th 2021 and commenced quarterly through December 15t", 2022 with additional visits lasting through February 14t" 2023. Steam Monitoring Construction of the restoration plan began on December 10t" and was completed on April 29th, 2021. Stream monitoring began shortly thereafter and continued quarterly until February 14th 2023. The livestakes were installed in late February on 2023, accordingly, survival rate is not known at this time. However, considering the fertility of the valley soils, soil moisture and duration of direct sunlight, survival rate is expected to be high. The restored stream channels are very stable and show no erosion. Flows do not fluctuate much due to being spring fed. The stream level has been observed to rise in large sustained storm events. No issued were observed. The confluence with Big Norton Prong will back up as stormwaters begin to inundate the associated bench areas. The root wads and H-vane have protected the confluence from erosion and head cutting from Big Norton Prong storm event flows. The stream does go intermittent just before the confluence during base flow likely due to the sandy soils adjacent to Big Norton Prong. Overall, the restored stream reaches S1 and S2 are stable. Additionally, the restored wetland area east of Big Norton Prong is functioning well with pockets of standing water and a variety of thriving wetland vegetation. At this time, CreekStone, PLLC, on the behalf of John Meshad, would like to request no further action and NOV closure of this project.
