Subject: Complaint Investigation of Turbidity & Sediment in Trent River from Lindenrain
Subdivision
Dear Mr. Sydes:
On January 23, 2015 this Office received a complaint of turbid stormwater and sediment being washed
off site into the Trent River. An on -site investigation was conducted on March 10, 2015 by Roberto
Scheller of this Office. The on -site investigation found that a drainage ditch had been constructed out
the back of the subdivision and runs parallel to Crump Farm Road (SR 1340). The ditch connects to an
existing drainage feature that passes under Crump Farm Road and continues down gradient to
terminate in a dry pond. A stream determination was conducted on the existing feature and was found
to be an ephemeral drainage feature and not subject to Neuse Riparian Buffer Rules. No water quality
violations were found at the time of the site investigation. It was noted that Mr. John Thomas, P.E. of
Thomas Engineering was working on turbidity of stromwater in ditches.
No connection was found between the stormwater leaving the Lindenrain Subdivision and turbidity
reported in the Trent River, therefore; no further investigation is deemed necessary at this time. This
letter is to inform you of the current status of the subject complaint investigation. Water Quality within
the subject drainage may be monitored for water quality standards at a future date. If you have any
