One of our employees was at the desk when the call came in so he went to check on it. He found sewer coming from manhole 1<11-25. He alerted the employees on the flush truck of the situation and they went to the location. They flushed the line from K11-24 and relieved the blockage. After the blockage was removed they went to K11-25, 26, and 28 to make sure all was clear. No other issues were found. They vacuumed all possible from the curb. All was clear and done, and they left the scene by 3:15. We feel the blockage was caused by excessive grit in the line from a privately owned manhole near a loading dock. We had made requests in the past for this industry to clean their lot due to excessive run- off into our storm -drainage system. it wasn't -known at that time that -the material on their lot was - affecting the sewer line. The lot has since been cleaned by the owner. We perform line maintenance daily using a combination flush/vacuum truck and maintain records of these activities. This particular area was previously flushed on January 13, 2021, Sept. 16, 2020, June 10, 2020, etc. It was also flushed after the spill on Mays, 2021 during normal flushing cycle with no issues. found. We at the City of Reidsville continue to make every effort to prevent overflows from our collection system. Our crews check lines daily and maintain a flushing route that far exceeds minimum requirements. I trust thatyouu will.find we are good stewards of -the -collection system and the environment. Sincerely, o Lindsey Tuttle, Public Services Superintendent City of Reidsville 1
