021 oncerning the sanitary sewer overflow that occurre January 2 , t the West ump
ation. The overflow occurred as a result of heavy rainfall that occurre In ort period of time. -
On January 25 a -significant and rapid rain event occurred with over 2 inch of rainfall. The extraneous -
flow into the pump station exceeded the pumping capacity which resulted in the overflow. The pump
station utilizes 3 pumps and all pumps were operating.
The Town continues its efforts to identify and correct Inflow/Infiltration areas of concern. The overflow
resulted from natural events and circumstances uncontrolled by the Town. It was not intentional and the
Town did not benefit economically from this event. The Town is committed to operating and
maintaining its sewer collection system. The Town respectfully request your office to not assess civil
penalties and afford the Town the opportunity to invest in upgrading the collection system.
