It is down to 157 NTUs. His plan is to get a reading Mon/Wed/Fri until it is cleared up. If you would like a report more frequently, please let me know. We’ll add this to our list for tomorrow. I visited the site on Friday 2/24/23. Like Ben said in his original email, they are dealing with a situation similar to what happened at Pit G, where the particles of the material are so fine that they remain in suspension for a long time. They have stopped the discharge from the basin to the RPW. They are still pumping from Pit D3 into the basin even though the skimmer has been plugged. They plan to spray the turbid water in the basin out over the fill to get rid of it. They have coir fiber matting with PAM over where the water from the pit is entering the basin and plan on getting floc logs and liquid flocculant to put in the basin in an effort to reduce the turbidity. Brandon will be getting daily turbidity readings until this is cleared up. It may take a while, since there is very little to no flow in the RPW. I attached a document that includes the readings through today. Let me know if you have any questions at this time. I will continue to update you on the turbidity readings and we can plan on seeing this site during the ride through on Thursday. Conit had a turbid release into an RPW from the outlet of their sediment basin out by the D-pits. One of us will get out there to look at this issue and report back with more details. This occurred due to the dewatering of the adjacent pit. We are dealing with similar material as were found in G-Pit, which remain in suspension for a really long time due to fineness of the sediment particles. Currently, the riser has been plugged and additional water is not entering the RWP. Conti is looking into alternative methods to attempt to settle out the particles. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
