This is to acknowledge receipt by the EPA Region 4.
R4NPDESPermits@epa.gov is a shared mailbox for states to submit NPDES permit packages to EPA Region 4
and should only be used for that purpose.
We may provide written comments and recommendations or objections to a draft or proposed final permit.
If we do not respond within the timeframes below, as per the current State/EPA Memorandum of Agreement
(MOA) (Section IV), then the State may issue the final permit.
However, if other parties raised significant concerns objecting to the draft or if the final permit is significantly
different than the draft the State needs to send a proposed permit to us for review.
Timeframes for EPA review:
• Draft Individual Permit: the EPA has 30 calendar days to review it and may request 90 days for review
• Draft General Permit: the EPA has 90 calendar days to review it
• Proposed Permit: the EPA has 15 business days to review it and may request 90 calendar days to review
it
