Subject: NCG021010 - Ivanhoe #2 Notice of Intent Additional Information
Follow Up Flag: Follow up
Flag Status: Flagged
Good afternoon, Mr. Izzell,
In reference to the Notice of Intent application for NCG021010 — Ivanhoe #2 please review the comments below.:
1. Temporary dewatering basins are not shown on the Site Plan, including the temporary dewatering basin in
reference to the outfall discharge point in the existing mine.
2. The information on the Site Plan is misleading as it states that "any dewatering of the new mining area will be
pumped into the existing mine which allows excess water to be infiltrated into the soil without any discharge."
3. The location of the outfall per latitude and longitude coordinates on Google Earth 34.6166,-78.2636, as stated
in the Notice of Intent does not appear to be the same location where the discharge point is shown on the Site
Plan.
4. The location (s) of where dewatering of the new mining area will be pumped into the existing mine should be
shown on the Site Plan.
5. A Pumping Operation and Monitoring Plan will need to be submitted for review and approval due to the
proximity of wetlands and proposed dewatering activity.
This information needs to be submitted within the next 30 days in order receive issuance of coverage under the
NCG020000 General Permit to authorize discharges of stormwater and/or mine dewatering wastewater. Thank you in
advance for this information.
Regards,
Melissa
