Mallard Head Condominiums Wastewater Treatment System Iredell County A letter of request for Authorization to Construct was received September 5, 1985, by the Division and final plans and specifications for the subject project have been reviewed and found to be satisfactory. Authorization is hereby granted for the construction of a 0.010 MGD wastewater treatment facility consisting of a bar screen, a 16,660 gallon capacity aeration tank, a 3,300 gallon capacity sludge holding tank, a 3,340 gallon capacity clarifier, dual blowers capable of delivering 110 CFM each, a 425 galloncapacity chlorine contact tank with a tablet chlorinator and all associated valves, piping and appurtenances to serve the Mallard Head Condominiums in Iredell County. This Authorization to Construct is issued in accordance with Part III para- graph C of NPDES Permit No. NC0062481 issued August 16, 1985, and shall be sub- ject to revocation unless the wastewater treatment facilities are constructed in accordance with the conditions and limitations specified in Permit No. NC0062481. The Permittee must employ a certified wastewater operator in accordance with Part III paragraph D of the referenced permit. The sludge generated from these treatment facilities must be disposed of in accordance with G.S. 143.215.1 and in a manner approvable by the North Carolina Division of Environmental Management. The Mooresville Regional Office, telephone number 704/663-1699 shall be noti- fied at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of operation of the system so that an in -place inspection can be made. Such notification to the Regional Supervisor shall be made during the normal office hours from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday, excluding State Holidays. P.O. Page 2 In event the facilities fail to perform satisfactorily in meeting its NPDES permit effluent limits, Mid South Water System shall take such immediate corrective action as may be required by this Division, including the construction of additional wastewater treatment and disposal facilities. The wastewater flowrate discharged to and treated by these facilities shall not exceed 80% of the design flowrate, or 8,000 GPD, until plans and specifications for expansion have been submitted to this Division. The plans for expansion shall provide dual path treatment units and stand by power, thus meeting Division of Health Services requirements for facilities discharging into A -II waters.
