Stephen Persche & Elsa Derochers Beaufort County Project Setting The project area is located off of SR1377, at 605 Blackbeard's View, adjacent to Bath Creek, near the Town of Bath in Beaufort County North Carolina. The applicant proposes to add a wetslip to the existing docking facility. The docking facility straddles the property line and is jointly owned by the Persches and Derochers. Existing structures on the project site consist of (2) single-family homes with bulkhead along the shoreline. A docking facility consisting of a pier with a T-head on the terminal end, boathouse and associated catwallcs, a small boatlift, and a wetslip at the terminal end of the pier. Various walkways and a small covered sitting area are present as well. Vegetation on the project site consists of lawn grasses, mixed hardwoods, and ornamental shrubs and bushes. Many of the adjacent properties upstream and downstream, have existing bulkheads and various combinations of piers and docking facilities. Bath Creek, an inland Primary Nursery Area, is classified as SClNSW by the North Carolina Environmental Management Commission and is closed to shellfishing. Water depths at the project site range from -2' near the bulkhead to -6' at the terminal end of the pier and is approximately -6' where the wetslip is proposed. Project Description The applicant proposes to add six additional pilings adjacent to the downstream side of the boathouse to create a =40' X X25' wetslip. Anticipated Impacts The construction of the wetslip will result in the shading of (1,000 ft2 of creek bottom shading. The project as proposed will result in localized, short term, turbidity as a result of the construction activities. Persche 605 Blackbeazd's View, Bath, NC 6 Additional Pilings Project 9/10/07 Project Narrative: This project is to add 6 new pilings adjacent to the existing boathouse. The pilings will be approximately 12" diameter, 30' long, 10' above normal water level. Pilings will be driven via bazge. The outside dimension of the pilings will be 40' x 25'. One (or more) single pilings may be replaced by 3-piling dolphins as recommended by contractor. The existing pier is on the Persche / Desrochers property line and is a shared pier. At the end of the pier, Descrochers have pilings for a sailboat and a piling for a skiff. The Persche side at the end of the pier has a covered boathouse with a boatlift and an exposed skiff lift. o0M M!-1 0 7 - 1 7 34 u~enn~xnr Mal•r omrel•pmem Peron North Carolina DIVISION OF COASTAL MANAGEMENT ~~ Pri';maryApplleant/Larltlowner~lnfo>~r'natron; ~ - ,~;-~MaG;_~~ Business Name Project Name (if applicable) 6 Additional Pilings - 605 Btackbeard's mew, Bath, NC Applicant 1: First Name MI Last Name Stephen Persche Applicant 2: First Name MI Last Name Elsa P Desrochers if additional applicants, please attach en additional page(s) with names listed.
