The purpose of the evaluation was to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Permit WQ0019907. Kary Herndon, ORC, was present during the inspection. This facility is a facultative lagoon treatment and irrigation system with a flow limit of 224,673 gpd. ONWASA has the ability to divert flow from the Jenkins Street Pump Station in Holly Ridge to the Summerhouse WWTF for treatment when needed. Effluent is stored in a 51-day storage pond before irrigating on 10 spray fields. A review of monitoring reports since the last inspection shows no groundwater issues on the GW-59s and 3 flow exceedances in June 2020, February 2021 and June 2021 on the NDMRs, ONWASA was issued a Pump and Haul Permit on February 8,2023 to pump and haul wastewater from the Summerhouse WWTF's 5-day upset pond to the Holly Ridge facility due to upcoming operational improvements at Summerhouse. An estimated 2 MG will be pumped and hauled during an extended time to make sure the flow at Holly Ridge is not exceeded. Currently, there are 2 modification applications under review for the Holly Ridge WWTF. A major modification includes building a new wastewater treatment facility and high -rate infiltration basins at the current irrigation field site. A minor modification includes constructing a forcemain from Holly Ridge WWTF to Summerhouse WWTF. The facility is compliant with Non -Discharge Permit WQ0019907. Please review the comment sections of the inspection report for more details.
