RE: NPDES Permit NC0086045, Antioch WTP, Hoke County
NPDES Permit NC0086037, Arabia WTP, Hoke County
Dear Mr. Weaver:
Enclosed please find renewal application packages for the above referenced
permits. The Antioch and Arabia WTPs are two well water treatment operations
that are a part of the Hoke County Regional Water System. Antioch has two
wells and Arabia has one well. The treatment processes at both sites are
identical.
The treatment consists of aeration and filtration. The purpose is for iron removal
from drinking water. In addition to aeration and filtration we also use chlorine,
sodium hydroxide and sodium polyphosphate. Finished water from the elevated
tanks is used to backwash the filters. The backwash water is directed into an
equalization basin before being discharged into any receiving waters. This
process does not generate any solids, so we do not handle or dispose of sludge.
If you need further information, or if you have any questions concerning these
applications, please contact me at (910) 875-6704.
Sincerely,
Matudf cG ti'L
