Dear Central Files:
Enclosed is the July monitoring report for the groundwater remediation system at the
subject site. Due to failing acute toxicity tests in April and May,the system was turned
off at the end of May 2004, except to collect samples. DOT Materials and Tests Unit
collected an effluent sample on July 13 and 16, 2004. The samples were submitted to
Pace Laboratory in Asheville for analyses by chronic toxicity. The attached report dated
July 23, 2004 from Pace shows a"pass"test for chronic toxicity at a test level of 1%.
The concentration of chlorides was found to be 4000 parts per million. There was no
flow for the month of July. The situation has been discussed with the Asheville Regional
Office and the DOT is currently preparing an application for a SOC.
!f you have any questions, please call at 733-2220.
Sincerely, •
