This letter is in response to compliance Evaluation Inspection letter dated November 8, 2022; received November 26, 2022. The following actions have been taken in effort to comply with rules governing the NPDES Permit NCG550000 and Certificate of Coverage (COC) NCG551401, specifically to issues noted in items 3, 4, and 5. Item 3: Chlorine Tablet In The Chlorinator We are making every effort to weekly restock the correct Chlorine tablets as indicated in the letter received. Item 4: Dechlorination Tablets The correct kind of dechlorination tablets are being used, and we are striving to ensure they go all the way to the water, to include running water in the system to flush the tablets down. Item 5: Analyzing the Effluent Since receipt of letter dated November 8, 2022; received November 26, 2022, we have monitored the effluent but have not been able to collect a sample. We have a call in to a septic service to come out and ascertain if pumping is required. Unfortunately, around the time we received the letter, an immediate family member passed away and the family contracted COVID. No excuses, we got sidetracked. We are now back on course and are continuing to monitor effluent and will get a sample submitted for testing as soon as it is available. Other measures to ensure proper functioning of system: • The system was pumped out in May of 2021, falling within the five-year period. A copy of the bill ofservice is attached; and we have a call in to a septic service to come out and ascertain ifpumping or flushing is required at this time. • We are attempting to keep the discharge outlet location area clean of grass and debris around the discharge pipe. • We are monitoring the system for any seepage and are maintaining the system in attempts to prevent any such seepage. • I spoke with you (Mr. Hayes) for clarification and guidance on an item. o As stated, you sent me a list of companies that can come out to collect samples for analysis. o Also, as stated, I am sending you this letter of response via email, and mailing a copy to the Raleigh office on Salisbury Street. We thank you for bringing these items to our attention. We are making efforts and will continue to be more watchful in monitoring the system in all attempts to remain in compliance.
