On behalf of the Town of Benson (PWS ID NC 03-51-025), we are submitting one (1) original and
one (1) copy of the following documents, as well as a check for a permit fee of $480.00, related
to the above referenced project for your review and approval:
• Sewer Fast -Track Application (FTA 06-21)
• Project Narrative (see below)
• USGS Topographic Map showing proposed utilities
• Aerial map showing general project area
The project includes the installation of a dedicated force main for industry wastewater effluent and
sanitary sewer required to connect to the Town of Benson system. The Town will install
approximately 2,705 LF of 8-inch force main by open cut and dry bore and jack. The Town will
also install approximately 215 LF of 12-inch gravity sewer by open cut and dry bore and jack. This
force main is being installed as a dedicated force main for an existing industry; the gravity sewer
installation will carry this discharge as well as wastewater discharged from an apartment complex.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the question -- glad to know y'all are making progress on the review, as busy as things are at the
State review offices these days. Looking back at what we provided as the submittal package, we certainly
could have been more clear in the cover letter — apologies for the lack of clarity.
There was no pump station information included because the pump station to which this force main is
connecting (the pump station maintained by Berry Global, the Town's industrial client that discharges flow into
the Town's system) will not change from its current operational performance. No flow changes are planned as
a part of this installation — the Town is implementing this project solely to enable its Chicopee Pump Station to
operate more efficiently when the industry's pump station is discharging flow. The new force main is being
directly connected to the existing discharge force main for the industry's pump station; the industry force main's
existing connection to the Chicopee PS discharge force main will be valved off post -construction -- as such,
when the project is complete all discharged wastewater from the industry will be separate from that being
discharged by the Town's Chicopee Pump Station. The Town's pump station will continue to use the existing
force main until the station is decommissioned in a separate, future project.
Please let us know if that answers your question, and if you have others as your review continues.
Thanks,
Peter Galan, PE
