NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE ALTERNATIVE LOCATIONS FOR
REPLACEMENT, REHABILITATION OF EXISTING, OR CONTINUED
MAINTENANCE OF THE EXISTING SUNSET BEACH BRIDGE
ON 8R 1172 OVER THE INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY
Project 8.2230101 B-682 Brunswick County
Personnel of the North Carolina Department of Transportation
will hold the above public hearing on September 5, 1995 at
7:30 PM in the Jones/Byrd Clubhouse, 75 Clubhouse Road, Sea
Trail Plantation, Sunset Beach, NC. The public hearing
exhibits will be available for public review from 6:00 to
7:30 PM. Project Team personnel will be present to discuss
the project prior to the formal hearing.
The hearing will consist of an explanation of the alternate
locations for the proposed bridge, right of way requirements
and procedures, relocation advisory assistance, and State-
Federal Relationship. The hearing will be open to those
present for statements, questions, comments and/or submittal
of material pertaining to the proposed project. Additional
material may be submitted for a period of 18 days from the
date of the hearing to: Mr. W. A. Garrett, Jr., P.E., P. 0.
Box 25201, Raleigh, NC 27611.
The alternatives contained in the Draft Environmental Impact
Statement(DEIS) consisting of three build, rehabilitation of
the existing, and a "no-build" will be presented.
Those wishing to preregister to speak may do so by calling
1-800-233-6315. Speakers will be taken on a first call
basis. Due to an anticipated large number of speakers, a
five minute time limit per speaker will be imposed. Written
material of any length will be accepted.
A map of the alternate locations and copies of the DEIS are
available for public review at the Sunset Beach Town Hall.
Copies of the DEIS are also available at the County Library
in Shallotte. Anyone desiring additional information on the
public hearing may contact Mr. Garrett at the above address

NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services for disabled
persons who wish to participate in the proceedings. To
receive special services, please contact Mr. Garrett at the
above number. Please give adequate notice so arrangements may
be made.
