REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION
Dear Sir or Madam:
On August 27, 2007, the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) received your application dated April 17,
2007, to impact 0.13 acres of 404/wetland, 140 linear feet of perennial stream, and 6,098 square feet of
Zone 1 Neuse River basin protected riparian buffer, and 3,920 square feet of Zone 2 Neuse River basin
protected riparian buffer to construct the proposed residential subdivision. The DWQ has determined that
your application was incomplete and/or provided inaccurate information as discussed below. The DWQ
will require additional information in order to process your application to impact protected wetlands
and/or streams on the subject property. Therefore, unless we receive five copies of the additional
information requested below, we will have to move toward denial of your application as required by 15A
NCAC 2H .0506 and will place this project on hold as incomplete until we receive this additional
information. Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review your project.
Additional Information Requested:
1. Level spreaders 1, 2 and 3 are all proposed in locations where the slopes are steeper than allowed
for forested filter strips (greater than 6 percent). Please either relocate these level spreaders to a
location where the filter strip has a slope that is less than 6 percent or provide a stormwater BMP
that removes a minimum of 30 percent of total nitrogen before discharging through the buffer.
2. Please provide across-sectional detail of the bypass channel associated with level spreader 4.
The bypass channel must extend from the level spreader to the stream. Please calculate the
velocity of flow through the bypass channel and specify an appropriate lining material.
Level spreader details and supplement forms (supplement forms available at:
http•//h2o enr.state.nc.us/su/bmp forms.htm) must also be provided for the level spreaders
proposed between the following lots:
• 14 and 15
• 68 and 71
• 77 and 78

4. The level spreaders located between the lots in item 3 should be located to be closely adjacent to
the riparian buffer that will be receiving the stormwater flow to prevent reconcentration of
stormwater before it enters the stream.
Please submit this information within 30 calendar days of the date of this letter. If we do not receive this
requested information within 30 calendar days of the date of this letter, your project will be withdrawn and you
will need to reapply with a new application and a new fee.
This letter only addresses the application review and does not authorize any impacts to wetlands, waters or
protected buffers. Please be aware that any impacts requested within your application are not authorized (at
this time) by the DWQ. Please call Ms. Cyndi Karoly or Mr. Ian McMillan at 9193-1786 if you have any
questions regarding or would like to set up a meeting to discuss this matter.
