This is the pre -filing meeting request for a proposed streambank stabilization project on Newfound Creek in
Buncombe County. The stream reach was stabilized in 2005 (DWR 2005-0452 V1) under the direction of NRCS and
Buncombe County Soil and Water with funds from the NC Clean Water Management Trust Fund. The stabilized
stream was placed in a permanent conservation easement for long-term protection.
Significant flooding in recent years caused the downstream portion of the reach to erode outside of the protected
conservation easement area. The purpose of this project will be to move the stream back to the pre -flood location
within the easement, stabilize the banks with rock toe, coir matting, and a woody buffer. The proposed project
length will be approximately 250-ft.
