20221736 Ver 1 WRC Comments 20230118.pdf
Good afternoon All,
On December 8, 2022, the Division of Water Resources (DWR) received your CAMA major
development permit application to allow for the proposed development of a private six (6) slip
docking facility with fixed piers, boatlifts, and a floating docks within Tar Landing Bay High Quality
Waters Area (SA;HQW). The Division of Water Resources (DWR) has additional questions regarding
the proposed development and has determined that additional information will be necessary to
complete the review of your permit application. The DWR has reviewed the attached comments
submitted by the Division of Marine Fisheries (dated 1/4/23) and the Wildlife Resources Commission
(dated 1/4/2023). The DMF and WRC memorandums recommend that the proposed docking facility
be extended further into the waterbody to eliminate negative impacts to SAV and habitat. Based on
the recommendations of the DMF and WRC, the DWR supports the recommendation to extend the
docking facility to deeper water to avoid negative impacts to SAV and SAV habitat. Please revise
your application in accordance with the recommendations of the resource agencies. If the concerns
of the resource agencies are not resolved the DWR will move to deny your application as required by
15A NCAC 2H.0506. If these concerns and recommendations are addressed to the satisfaction of the
DMF and WRC, the DWR will have no objection. The application is on hold until the information
requested above has been received by our office. Please feel free to call or email me if you have
any questions or need my assistance in any way.
Sincerely,
Holley Snider .•
