Todd Hiatt found the issue this fall. It's hard to fathom/explain, but basically, a large void has formed beside the road and material has washed down the hill side, filling a ditchline, which eventually leads to a UT of Old Fields Creek (this is the site by the house with an above ground swimming pool, that you might remember). We placed wattles in the ditch line near the creek last year, and plan to go back out early next week to clean the existing wattles, add some additional wattles (we noticed the existing wattles were started to get full), and likely put in some silt fence and SDO around the UT. This is honestly just a band -aid, as we will need heavy equipment to really fix the problem. Since the project is still under contract, we are working with V&G (who built the C section) to have them fix the issue. It will probably be 3-4 more weeks till we start, but by then, maybe we will have some warmer/drier weather (or being March, it might decide to finally snow a 1'...). We shouldn't have to do any work by the creek, as the actual issue is up high on the slope, closer to the road shoulder. I haven't noticed any accumulated sediment in the stream, so we have not needed to do a pickup, but I'm sure some sediment is probably lost during heavy rain events. Hoping we are containing most of it, and will continue to monitor it. Just wanted to let you know in case you get a call. Thanks and Happy Friday!
