Trevor Clements SUBJECT: Salisbury Grants Creek WWTP After conferring with Meg Kerr (Tech. Supp. Supervisor) and Alan Wahab of Construction Grants, it was decided that the BOD5 and NH3-N limits formerly developed for Salisbury would be applied as final permit recommendations. These limits were determined using the old ultimate BOD breakdown of: 1.0 BOD5 + 4.0 NH3'-NIt has now come to our attention that Salisbury receives industrial waste comprising about 20 percent of their wasteflow. If this new information were incorporated with the development of limits, Salisbury's limits would be substantially more. stringent (2.0 BOD5 + 4.57 NH3-N). For Salisbury's allocation of 39 mg/1 ultimate BOD, the alternative breakdowns are shown below: a) 1.0 (15 mg/1 BOD5) + 4.0 (6 mg/1 NH3-N) = 39 mg/1 BODult b) 2.0 (10 mg/1 BOD5) + 4.57 (4 mg/1 NH3-N) = 39 mg/1 BODult Several elements of the 201 area plan for Salisbury were based upon the limits shown above in (a.). Because of these plans and commitments, the current permit limitations will reflect those numbers. However, future permits should reflect the new information and Salisbury should be made aware of the potential for change.
