JAY ZIMMERMAN Director Ron Boone of the Winston-Salem Regional Office of the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR or the Division) conducted a compliance evaluation inspection (CEI) of the Salem Business Park Remediation Site on February 10, 2016. The assistance and cooperation of Greg Stephenson, Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC), was greatly appreciated. An inspection checklist is attached for your records and inspection findings are summarized below. General Information The Salem Business Park Remediation Site is located at building #46 of Salem Business Park at approximate coordinates of 36.056473, 80.230281. The permit authorizes Alcatel -Lucent USA Inc. to operate this 0.302 MGD groundwater remediation system, which consists of extraction wells, bag filters, a tray air stripper, and activated carbon filters, and discharge the treated effluent via outfall 001 to Salem Creek, which is currently classified as Class C waters in the Yadkin Pee Dee River basin. Site Review Mr. Stephenson has done an excellent job of operating and maintaining the plant. The entire plant was clean and appeared to be in excellent working order. Mr. Boone noted no discrepancies. Documentation Review All required documentation was reviewed. All of Mr. Stephenson's records were available, in order, complete and current. No discrepancies were noted.
