On December 4, 2014, the Division of Water Resources (the Division) received your application for
the subject project The application was reviewed and on December 18, 2014, site visit was conducted by
this office The following Information is requested (as discussed) in order to complete the review and
Issuance of the application,
Matting is recommend to be placed upstream of the culvert on Meadow Ridge Drive, to stabilize the
.'graded" stream and encourage entrapment of sediment as It moves downstream.
The proposed culvert Is too wide for the existing channel Several options were discussed a dual
culvert was discussed with a base and storm flow culvert, a baffled culvert that would "meander" the
base flow through the culvert, and/or a culvert with a "curb" running through the culvert (examples
emaded earlier)
The scour hole at the end of the culvert was also discussed It was discussed whether it would it be
better to reduce the slope of the culvert and build up the stream at the outlet thus maintaining a
single barrel rather than having the "drop" near the outlet of the culvert to bring It to grade at the
outlet This may require additional feet of Impact beyond what Is propose, but may be more
advantageous/preferred.
Please be advised that until this Office receives above requested Information, this project will be
placed on hold pursuant to 15A NCAC 2H 0507(h) In addition, this Office is requesting that the Army Corps
of Engineers place a hold on their processing of the application If you have any question, please contact
