Since the renewal of our General Permit for Metal Fabrication in July 2021, Godwin Manufacturing has
had benchmark exceedances for Zinc. All other parameters have been meeting the benchmarks. This
exceedance has put us into the Tier One Status.
The following are dates that our stormwater samples were taken and show when zinc was elevated.
June 23,2021
No Discharge (this was for the V half of the year)
September 212021
Outfall 2- Zinc sample .151 (3`d quarter sample)
Outfall 3- Zinc sample .144
Started Tier One Status
December 8,2021
All samples are in range (4'h quarter sample)
March,2022
No Discharge (15, quarter sample)
April18,2022
Outfall 3- Zinc sample .146 (2"dquarter sample)
September 30, 2022
No Discharge (3rd quarter sample)
December 15, 2022
Outfall 3-Zinc sample .20 (4th quarter sample)
A walk around inspection was made and there was no evidence that there had been any leaks or spills
that would cause the Zinc sample to be elevated. It was determined that Zinc levels were high due to
industrial activities such as brake dust from traffic of forklifts and vehicles. Plus, the buildings on site are
metal, there is chain linked fence around the property, and gutters are on all of our buildings.
This is our second sample in a row at Outfall 3 that has reported Zinc to be high. This will put us into Tier
Two- monthly monitoring.
Godwin Manufacturing would like to request regulatory relief for the Zinc exceedances.
We thank you in advance for your consideration of this request.
Sincerely,
/ee-l/?
